Annie Shaw, a member of the Board of the DC Center, is active with the Center 's Elder Think Tank. As a Think Tank member she helped host a series of seminars on "aging gracefully and facing the future". Annie is passionate about expanding collaboration with agencies so that GLBT elders' needs are met throughout all systems.

Primary interests are wellness promotion and expanding services to the aging and queer communities. She is experienced in training and mentoring volunteers to lead support groups and buddy programs. She has extensive work history as a wellness consultant in complementary medicine as well as work as a social worker in long term care facilities.

In her previous position as Director of Lesbian Services for Whitman-Walker Clinic, Annie Shaw led a department providing clinical and non-clinical services to lesbian, bisexual women and transgender men and women. Non-clinical programs included a well respected choosing children program for GLBT folks considering parenthood, volunteer-led peer support programs for women, volunteer training, innovative health education programming, and 3 grants for breast screening/early detection of cancer targeting underserved populations in the metropolitan region.

Annie Shaw graduated from University of Maryland, Baltimore County with her bachelors in social work.
