WHO ARE WE?
In April of 2005 Elder OUTreach was formed to assist in ensuring that
the Center maintained a focus on LGBT older adults. Elder OUTreach is
a small group of dedicated volunteers, many of whom work in the field
of aging or represent LGBT organizations. While the Center hosts a number
of activities appropriate for individuals of all ages, Elder OUTreach
will support programs designed to meet the unique needs of the older members
of our community. Elder OUTreach welcomes interested individuals of all
ages, as well as representatives of organizations serving older/LGBT people,
to join us in serving our community’s elders.

PROGRAMS
Computer Lab
Computers can be a useful tool and a lot of fun for people of all
ages including seniors. In March, 2006 the Center opened a computer
lab and the lab is open to the community through classes as well as
drop-in hours. Watch the Center web site home page for details and
special events.
Educational Programs
Elder OUTreach, in collaboration with other local organizations serving
elders or the LGBT community, will periodically hold educational programs
for LGBT elders. The first of these – Elder OUTreach: Volunteer and
Social Opportunities for LGBT Seniors – was held in September 2005
and provided an opportunity for participants to meet with DC metro
organizations that serve LGBT elders and learn more about the opportunities
they provide. If you are interested in helping with programming or
have ideas for future topics, please let us know. Organizations that
would like Elder OUTreach to assist them with an activity targeted
to elders, including LGBT older adults, are invited to contact us
to discuss their ideas.

Mautner Project :
