This Thursday from 6 to 8 pm, Caramel Boutique owner Sarah Watkins and Maryland Artist Linda Button will host a reception to help celebrate, commemorate and raise money in honor of Metro DC PFLAG'S 30th anniversary. Complimentary refreshments will be served, and both the artist and the boutique will donate 30 percent of sales during the event to Metro DC PFLAG.
Linda Button paints in a luminous floating-edge style. In recent years, she has been exploring the visual eloquence of "Window Licking" (aka window shopping) through oil paintings that feature the multiple realities of mannequins and the reflections of pedestrians, architecture, sky, symbols, and slashes of flora. Her technique entails iterative building of shimmering layers, capturing multiple slices of urbanscapes and the pseudo-people with their captivating, coquettish attire who inhabit these fantasy spaces.
Linda Button's work is currently on display through March 24th at Caramel Boutique, located at 1603 U Street, NW, in Washington DC.
