The League of Women Voters of the District of Columbia Invites you to a health forum on HIV/AIDS programs in DC: How to get the best returns on DC Health Department programs aimed at prevention and treatment of HIV/AIDS and how nonprofit groups can enhance their own efforts on this cause.
Gregory Pappas has more than 25 years of experience fighting HIV/AIDS in the United States and around the world. He recently worked on HIV programs with the United States Agency for International Development and has helped develop a National Medical Association program to improve African-American physicians' ability to consult with male patients who have sex with other men. He also played an important role in the highly successful President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) begun during the Bush administration. Earlier in his career, Dr. Pappas served in the US Department of Health and Human Services, where, among other things, he was a senior policy adviser to Surgeon General David Satcher. Dr. Pappas has published numerous studies on epidemiology and ethics related to HIV/AIDS, most recently a soon-to-bepublished book on urban public health, megacities and health.
