2013 is going to be a busy year for the DC Center. Here are some major events to put on your calendar. If there are events you would like to see added to this list, please e-mail contact@thedccenter.org.

JANUARY

Center Global Launch Party
Tuesday January 8th - 5PM to 8PM - MOVA Lounge - 2204 14th Street NW
Join us as we celebrate the beginning of a new program at the DC Center, Center Global. Money raised at this happy hour event will go directly to supporting LGBT Asylum Seekers who come to the District of Columbia. Over the past year, the DC Center has worked with LGBT asylum seekers from countries like Kenya, Uganda, Iraq, Ethiopia, Jamaica, and Cameroon.

Martin Luther King Junior Peace Walk

The Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Parade. We invite everyone who is interested (organizations and individuals) to be part of our LGBT contingent.

FEBRUARY

GLOV Happy Hour and Reception
Tuesday February 12th - 5PM to 8PM - MOVA Lounge - 2204 14th Street NW
You're invited to GLOV's annual reception and celebration of our work. GLOV works to reduce violence against Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) individuals (and those perceived as LGBT ) through community outreach, education, and monitoring cases to ensure that the rights and dignity of LGBT victims are respected and protected. GLOV also seeks to assist victims of anti-LGBT violence by advocating on their behalf, encouraging reporting, and providing a community of support.

Center Military Kick-Off Party

St. Patricks Day Parade of Washington DC
Tuesday March 17th - Details to follow
The DC Center has filled out a participant registration form and requested to have an LGBT walking contingent in the 42nd Annual St. Patrick Parades. If we are accepted, this will be the first time an LGBT contingent has marched in the Parade! We invite the LGBT Community and allies (Irish and Irish at heart!) to walk with us in the parade.

APRIL

Youth Working Group Annual Reception
Tuesday April 9th - 5PM to 8PM - MOVA Lounge - 2204 14th Street NW
Join us at MOVA for the 2013 Youth Working Group Reception. Meet youth working group members, and learn what we are doing to support lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender youth in the District of Columbia.

Youth Pride Day

Youth Pride Day is an annual celebration of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning youth (24 and under). It is a chance for LGBTQ Youth to celebrate awareness, visibility, and pride.

DC Queer Theatre Festival 2nd Annual Reception

2nd Annual DC Queer Theatre Festival

Now in our second year, the DC Queer Theatre Festival unleashes and celebrates the underrepresented voices and diversity of our artists, audiences, and community. OutWrite LGBT Book Festival
August 2nd - August 4th - Reeves Center, 2000 14th Street NW
The OutWrite Book Fair is a weekend full of book readings, book vendors, book discussions, poetry readings and more. We have both new and used LGBT themed books and magazines for sale all day long. LGBT Community Center Awareness Day

LGBT Center Awareness Day was founded by CenterLink: The Community of LGBT Centers to increase widespread awareness of the vital services offered by lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender community centers and to promote the central role LGBT centers play in local communities, as well as in the LGBT movement.

OCTOBER

DC Center Fall Reception

Please join us for our Fall Reception, our signature annual even to benefit the DC Center. This event is an important opportunity to support the DC Center, reflect on our work over the past decade, and honor individuals who have made outstanding contributions to our local LGBT Community.

NOVEMBER

2nd Annual Center Women Beaujolais Nouveau Celebration
Thursday November 21st , TBA
Center Women invites LBT women and friends to celebrate Beaujolais Nouveau! Join us for our first annual signature Center Women event! Beaujolais Nouveau! Beaujolais nouveau is a red wine made from Gamay grapes produced in the Beaujolais region of France. It is the most popular vin de primeur, fermented for just a few weeks before being released for sale on the third Thursday of November. This "Beaujolais Nouveau Day" sees heavy marketing, with races to get the first bottles to different markets around the globe.

DECEMBER

2nd Annual Center Women Beaujolais Nouveau Celebration
