The District of Columbia Office on Aging (DCOA) is elated to inform you of Mayor Vincent C. Gray's press conference that is scheduled for Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at 10:00 AM at the Washington Seniors Wellness Center. The address is 3001 Alabama Avenue, SE, Washington, DC.
During the press conference, the Mayor will unveil his strategic plan for serving seniors. The strategic plan focuses on a senior living a quality, independent life in the District of Columbia. It is an excellent framework to advance the goals and mission of the agency and demonstrates the new direction for aging services. In addition, the Mayor will release DCOA's Senior Needs Assessment. We were excited to take on this study as the last Senior Needs Assessment was conducted in 1978. The study was designed to better understand the needs of older adults, the current service delivery model, and the gaps that may exist between the existing and needed services.
This information will prove to be instrumental as DCOA and its Senior Service Network prepares to meet the future needs of seniors in the District and the growing population of baby boomers.
