Joseph Palacios is one of four individuals who will be recognized at the DC Center Fall Reception, taking place Friday October 12th at 7:00 PM at the Sofitel Hotel.
This marks the first time the DC Center has recognized an Emeritus Board Member at our fall reception. Dr. Palacios teaches Sociology in the Liberal Studies Program at Georgetown University. He has served in many roles in support of the LGBT community including Vice President of the DC Center and the Diversity Co-Chair of the DC Steering Committee of the Human Rights Campaign. In October 2009 Palacios received a White House appointment to serve on the Board of Visitors of the Western Hemispheric Institute of Security Cooperation (WHINSEC) at Fort Benning, GA.
A Catholic Priest, Dr. Palacios has been a strong advocate for Marriage Equality both in the District of Columbia and Maryland. Dr. Palacios is a co-founder of the group Catholics for Equality.
