The DC Center's successful career development program offers you the opportunity to work with human resource, recruiting, workforce development, job placement and coaching professionals on improving your job searches and strategies and networking, interviewing, resume and cover-letter writing skills, other professional communication skills and job retention skills and techniques in a confidential and safer setting. Upon request, we are also pleased to offer you individualized career coaching at cost-effective rates. We serve the specific and individual needs of the LGBT community; our program is specific to the DC job market, from entry-level to encore career. Initial Consultation
Preliminary free consultation for those new to the DC Center's career development program. To participate in this free consultation, you must register online at least 24 hours in advance of the 30-minute session you wish to attend. This session also serves as a one-on-one coaching session and includes brief assessments to help job seekers identify life perspectives, strengths, and coaching needs. The one-on-one session introduces new clients to career coaching concepts, including creating and implementing goal plans; visualizing success; learning to focus efforts more and managing time more effectively; balancing work/life; pinpointing and releasing emotional or mental blocks; eliminating negative self-talk; and being accountable.
Two one-on-one sessions offered: Wednesdays, 3:00-3:30 and 3:30-4:00 pm.
The Job Club
A flourishing job support program to help job entrants and seekers, including the chronically unemployed, improve self-confidence, motivation, resilience and productivity for effective job searches and networking -- allowing participants to move away from being merely "applicants" toward being "candidates." The focus is on developing strength-led strategies, techniques and goal plans, matching values and strengths and improving self-awareness as approaches to finding meaningful and satisfying employment. To participate in the Job Club, you must register online at least 24 hours in advance of the session you wish to attend. The one time contribution will be accepted during participant's first session. Wednesdays, 4:15-6:00 pm.
Fee: One-time contribution of USD5.00
MasterMinds@Work
Group coaching session specially designed for those employed seeking career satisfaction and ways to enhance their job and life skills. "Job clubbers" who've graduated into full employment will benefit from group coaching and the power of masterminds in a professional setting! Working with a MasterMind Coach, participants define work goals based on their commitment and their own empowerment! Group setting uses peer power to keep individuals on track and accountable while helping masterminds to accomplish key goals and tasks without hesitation, procrastination or fear! To participate in this program, you must register with the DC Center and pay time one-time fee. The mid-week sessions are conveniently scheduled after work hours Wednesdays, 6:30 to 7:30 pm.
Fee: USD120.00 per year
Fall sessions begin October 3, 2012.
