wellsfargo.jpgThe DC Center is proud to announce a generous donation from the Wells Fargo Foundation. The DC Center has received a $7,500 donation from the foundation in support of the DC Center Career Development Program. This is the second year that the DC Center has received a grant from Wells Fargo.

The DC Center Career Development Program, run by volunteer Joseph Rio, provides one-on-on support with topics including job searches, interviews skills, resume writing and individual career goal counseling.

Finding a job in these challenging economic times can be difficult for everyone, but often LGBT community members face additional challenges because of their sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, or HIV status.

The DC Center Career Development conducts weekly sessions on Wednesdays to provide personal career guidance from trained human resource professionals who can address employment issues specific to the LGBT community and people living with HIV/AIDS. Career Development participants have access to the David Bohnett Cyber-Center at the DC Center, where they can work on resumes and search for jobs.

The program has been in operation since June 2009. The mission of the Wells Fargo Foundation is to build strong and vibrant communities, improve the quality of life, and make a positive difference.
