Michael Brazell (Mahayogi Das) will lead a Yoga Glass at Golden Heart Yoga to raise money for the DC Center. Michael is an instructor at Golden Heart Yoga and the volunteer teacher for the DC Center Bears do Yoga class.
The benefit class will take place on Sunday August 12th at 6:00 PM at Golden Heart Yoga, 4804 Georgia Ave.
This event was originally intended to be a benefit for Michael Joel Hall and Michael Roike who were recently assaulted and beaten in a hate crime last month. We are happy to report that this couple is on their way to a speedy recovery and have received the donations they need. Michael Hall has requested no more donations be made.
In the spirit of the event, the money we raise will go towards GLOV, a task-force of the DC Center. The primary mission of Gays and Lesbians Opposing Violence (GLOV) is to work to reduce violence against Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT ) individuals (and those perceived as LGBT ) through community outreach, education, and monitoring cases to ensure that the rights and dignity of LGBT victims are respected and protected. GLOV also seeks to assist victims of anti-LGBT violence by advocating on their behalf, encouraging reporting, and providing a community of support. Find out more at www.glovdc.org.
