Announcing the DC Center's first chapbook series, Stoked! A chapbook is a small, often hand-stitched book of poetry. The DC Center will be publishing various Capturing Fire artists in this new anthology, including this year's Capturing Fire champion, Joanna Hoffman, as well as various other artists.
Stoked is a work of local and international queer voices coming together in Washington, DC after The 2nd Capturing Fire Slam and Summit. Documenting spoken word poetry happens on YouTube. This work takes back literature to the hand-stitched art of book making. These words are gutsy, the poets colorful and the themes of gender, identity, pop culture and biography continue to ignite, incite and rock the marble of our nation's capital.
The chapbook premiere will kick off Saturday, August 4th at 8pm as the opening act to Kimberly Dark's performance ($5 suggested donation). Don't miss the performance at the DC Center and your chance to buy your very own, limited-edition chapbook! The chapbook is priced at $10 per copy.
