On Thursday, May 31st The DC Center sponsored a town hall on LGBT youth homelessness. The town hall raised questions on why LGBT youth are disproportionately affected by homelessness, what resources are available to these youth now, and how we as a community can better serve them moving forward. Below are ten action items that you can take to create change for LGBT homeless youth.
1.Support Local Homeless LGBT Youth. Sign our petition!

2.Take action on the National Level!
The Runaway and Homeless Youth Act Should Include Gay and Transgender Youth!

3.Organize Locally!
Attend the next Youth Working Group Meeting on June 11th at 6PM at the DC Center (1318 U Street, NW)
4.Donate!

5.Become a Foster Parent!

6.Become a CASA!
Become a Court Appointed Special Advocate in the District. CASA Volunteers are trained and assigned to a young person in the foster care system. Contact Seetal Parikh at sparikh@casadc.org for more information.
7.Support LYFE Mentors!
