AIDS Memorial Quilt
Note: you must sign up here in order to volunteer with the AIDS Memorial Quilt.
Volunteers participate in Quilt monitoring and assisting visitors during the day. Volunteers are encouraged to sign up for shifts from 9am - 6 pm. Though it is a full day's load, people are mostly needed at the beginning and end of the day for unloading Quilt from storage and loading Quilt to storage.
Readings
All volunteers are invited to take part in the ceremonial reading of names throughout Folklife Festival and Quilt in the Capital. Reading names from the Quilt is a powerful and emotional part of the Quilt tradition. From 11 am to 5:30 pm each Festival day, we will be reading names from the Quilt. You simply need to come to the Reader Stage, and we will provide you with a list of names to read. After reading the list, you are welcome to add names of friends or family whom you have personally lost to AIDS.
