The District of Columbia Department of Employment Services is currently recruiting participants for the next three-week Project Empowerment Transitional Employment Program for the transgender community.
This class involves a combination of life skills and job readiness instruction. It has been designed to prepare participants to transition into the workforce. The three-week class has two main foci: life skills and employability skills. The first topics addressed fall into the life skills category; they require careful self-examination and implementation of various change mechanisms. The employability skills topics will equip each participant with the knowledge and skills to obtain employment; they include mock interviews and job preparedness.
Participants must be age 22 and older. Participants must not be currently receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF); Social Security Benefits; or unemployment compensation. Participants must be currently unemployed.
