Greetings from the District of Columbia,
My name is Jessica McMahon and I am the new Center Arts intern at the DC Center. This past December, I graduated with a Bachelor's in English from Point Park University in Downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Throughout my studies, I have had the opportunity to enrich my life through eclectic and experimental works. Studying literature has provided my own agency with a modicum of truth as each artistic work consumed allowed for the opportunity to become closer to the fundamentals of life.
As a humanist, my background is primarily located within the interconnectedness of the human experience. As an English major hailing from a liberal arts institution, my curiosity is primarily located within the filament of art as the stage for life. Whilst interning, I am eager to catalyze my understanding of art as an instrument of cultural capital. I am also excited to encourage artists both inside and outside the District to use the Center Arts Program as a platform for creative, intellectual development. I am looking forward to working with the Center Arts Program, because the program is a rewarding opportunity to cross national and cultural boundaries. I am ecstatic to meet locate artists who wish to actively landscape a glimpse into the interior of the LGBT community for the nation's consumption.
