On November 15, 2011 the National Center for Transgender Equality (NCTE) will celebrate eight years of being at the forefront of transgender equality and will be honoring community members who have pushed their agenda forward. In the last year, NCTE ensured that transgender people can change passport gender markers without surgery; ended SSA's practice of sending "gender no-match" letters; and represented transgender people at every major federal policy meeting on the Hill and in the White House.
