gllu1.gifDear Community Members,

This morning a member of the transgender community walked into the Seventh District Station to report that she sustained a gun shot wound to the neck. The female was transported to a local hospital and is in stable condition. The Gay and Lesbian Liaison Unit responded to scene to aid the detectives in their investigation in hope to bring this case to closure. The investigation is currently active and all investigative leads are being aggressively pursued by members of the Seventh District Detectives Office and the Gay and Lesbian Liaison Unit.

I also wish to extend my sincere condolences to the transgender community regarding the death of a transgender woman in the 2600 block of 11th Street, N.W. I want to also inform you that this case is being investigated by the Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch and they are also conducting an aggressive investigation to into this case. This matter is being investigated as a suspicious death pending an official ruling from the District of Columbia Medical Examiner. Currently, investigators are continuing their efforts to identify the decedent. The Gay and Lesbian Liaison Unit is also assisting with this investigation as well and they are looking for leads to aid the investigation.

I want to assure the community that there is no evidence linking these two cases; the investigation of these crimes are the top priority for the Gay and Lesbian Liaison Unit. If any community member should have any information regarding these two cases or any other crime affecting the community please contact:
