As promised, two weeks later, here's another one of our fabulous AIDS Walk participants! Last time we met EJ, and this week we're going to meet Tony, who is also walking with us at AIDS Walk 2011 on October 29th!
"My name is Tony Thomas and I am excited about participating in AIDS WALK 2011! I like traveling, walking, hanging out with my friends, doing karaoke, as well as HIV/AIDS outreach and education. My favorite pastime is listening to music, especially R&B and Jazz. I recently started volunteering with the DC Center and Whitman-Walker Health providing HIV Counseling, Testing and Referrals services. I am passionate about working with the LGBT community and helping people get tested for HIV to know their status. I am looking forward to walking with the DC Center and helping to raise money to continue fighting the spread of HIV in Washington, DC. I think it's important to walk to raise money for The DC Center, as well as Whitman-Walker, because of their presence in the community. The DC Center has programs and resources for all members of our community. Nobody's left behind at this LGBT "one-stop-shop"! This inclusion makes a huge difference in advocacy and support. I'm walking because raising money means more opportunities to serve our community better, and this starts with us! I encourage everyone to take part in this year's AID Walk because together we can make a difference in our community."
Join Tony and The DC Center at the 25th Annual AIDS Walk on October 29th! Sign up to walk with The DC Center and 50% of the money we raise as a team goes to The DC Center's HIV Prevention Working Group!
