The Lesbian and Gay Chorus of Washington will be taking an indefinite break from rehearsing and performing, with a final concert for the foreseeable future on Sunday, June 20, 2010.
The farewell concert, "Our Love Song to You," will be held at the Capitol Hill Presbyterian Church, 4th and Independence Ave SE, at 4 PM.
As a non-auditioned, consensus-based chorus, LGCW has changed the lives of people in the D.C. area and beyond. The chorus has been a reliable presence at social justice events around the metro area (including Capital Pride, the March for Women's Lives and the D.C. Vote Rally); raised thousands of dollars for numerous local and national charities; was the first Lesbian & Gay chorusto produce a CD (in 1994, followed by two more); and performed at GALA Choruses festivals in Seattle, Denver, Tampa and San Jose.
