On June 10, 2009 there was a meeting to reactivate the DC Coalition – A community of African American Lesbians, Gay Men, Bisexuals and Transgendered Persons. At the meeting issues of interest to the community were discussed: political action, health issues, HIV/AIDS, obesity, blood pressure, cancer, coming out, group home for LGBT senior citizens, marriage equality, education, economics, youth issues, history project and membership development. There was a consensus to use the summer of 2009 to do outreach to bring the community together to build the DC Coalition towards our anniversary in October 2009 and the future.
