The DC Center, a LGBT community resource center for metropolitan DC, often welcomes qualified interns. Interns are responsible for daily tasks such as responding to community requests, and updating a blog, and assisting with administrative tasks as needed. The DC Center is currently seeking the following interns:

Alternatively, interns may be placed with one or more of the following programs to work on:

  • Center Arts - find out more about this program: here
  • HIV Working Group - find out more about this program: here
  • Career Development - find out more about this program here

Internships involve both administrative and more substantive work on LGBT community issues. Interested students should be able to work independently and express clear ideas about which project they would like to work on and what contribution they would like to make. Prospective interns are encouraged to visit the website and familiarize themselves with the programs of The DC Center.

Interns may work between the hours of 11:00 AM and 6:00 PM Monday through Friday, and are asked to commit to a minimum of 16 hours per week (20 or more preferred), for a minimum time commitment of two months (three months preferred).

Unfortunately The DC Center cannot offer paid internships at this time. Every effort will be made, however, to meet the requirements of your internship.

Applicants are asked to clearly provide:

  • Proposed start and end date of internship
  • Number of hours to be completed weekly
  • Resume
  • Academic requirements for internship (if applicable)
  • One writing sample

Applications may be submitted to:
